Do I need to use my real name during group sessions?

No. Grouport only shares your name with your therapist. You can remain anonymous with your fellow group members by providing a nickname for your group sessions. To do so, set your preferred name when you first launch your session.

Do I have to talk during the group?

Your Participation

You do not need to talk during the group if you do not feel comfortable. If you prefer to just listen and observe, there is definitely benefit in doing so. In fact, you could remain anonymous by adopting a nickname. Most members are surprised by how quickly they feel comfortable in the group setting, and report that sharing and being vulnerable with others is precisely the leading element to their recovery process.

What if I’m not comfortable sharing my thoughts in a group setting?

Your group members will be there for the same reason you are. The consultation ensures that they are people who share your exact same condition or mental health challenge. Additionally, each therapist establishes confidentiality at the start of each session to help everyone feel safe in the group.
