If you’re between 11–17 years old, we offer specialized therapy services just for adolescents and teens. We also have dedicated teen-only therapy groups, which are only available to adolescents in that age range. Grouport’s online DBT therapy groups follow a structured, module-driven program designed to help you build and reinforce lifelong DBT skills — all in a supportive, therapist-led environment. Groups meet weekly via video chat with the same therapist and members to create consistency, connection, and accountability.

The group kicks off with a 12-week introductory phase, where you’ll be introduced to the foundations of DBT. During this phase, you'll begin developing core skills in emotion regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness — supported by weekly handouts and worksheets aligned with each session.

After the first 12 sessions, the group transitions into monthly advanced DBT modules that deepen those same core skills. Here’s a preview of what you’ll cover:

  • Month 4: Mindfulness – Explore dialectics, the middle path, and wise mind; practice “what & how” skills and daily mindfulness techniques
  • Month 5: Distress Tolerance – Learn crisis survival strategies, SUDS, and radical acceptance skill
  • Month 6: Emotion Regulation – Understand and manage intense emotions using ABC & PLEASE techniques
  • Month 7: Interpersonal Effectiveness – Strengthen boundaries and communication with tools like DEARMAN, FAST, and GIVE
  • Months 8–12: Integration – Apply all the skills you’ve learned across modules and reinforce their use in everyday life

The full program includes a year’s worth of structured DBT content, gradually progressing from foundational learning to advanced skill integration. In the final phase (after one year), the group evolves into a support-style format focused on applying and maintaining the skills you've developed over time.

The group is ongoing, and you're welcome to continue for as long as it's helpful. There's a 12-session minimum commitment from the time you join. You can cancel anytime and simply finish out whichever billing period you're on.

You can also switch groups at any time and for any reason — we’re here to help ensure you’re happy with your group experience.

How do I access my online therapy sessions?

If you’re not prompted to create a member portal account when signing up, then your mental health counseling happens over video links emailed to you once a week. You’ll receive a confirmation email with details about your therapy match, and then a reminder email 24 hours before each session containing that week’s unique link. (Note: the link changes each week.)

If you do create a member portal account during signup, your therapy sessions will take place within the portal, except for your initial consultation. You’ll receive a confirmation email with a unique link for that first consultation. After that, you’ll be able to log into the portal and join your weekly therapy sessions directly from the homepage.

For some of our services, an initial consultation is required before your first session. If applicable, you'll be prompted to schedule it right after signing up. The consultation is a 20-minute, one-on-one assessment led by a trained mental health professional. It helps us better understand your unique needs so we can recommend the care that’s the best fit for you. If you're not prompted to schedule one, you're still welcome to connect with a care coordinator — they’re available to talk through your needs and make sure you feel confident about your therapist and session setup.

How frequent are online therapy sessions?

Weekly Plans – Meet on the same day & time each week, totaling 4-5 sessions per month (some months have 5 sessions at no extra cost).
Multiple Sessions Per Week – Available for those who want more frequent support.
Every-Other-Week Option – Some individual therapy plans allow sessions every other week instead of weekly if that’s preferred.

All plans are ongoing and billed monthly, quarterly (save 10%), or biannually (save 20%). You can cancel anytime and continue through the end of your current billing period.

Groups have a maximum of 12 members, but typically operate with 6-8 members at any given time. Each group is led by a licensed therapist who specializes in the group’s focus.

You do not need to talk during the group if you do not feel comfortable. If you prefer to just listen and observe, there is definitely benefit in doing so. However, since months have an average of 4.33 weeks, some months will have 4 sessions, while others will have 5 sessions at no extra cost.
