Frequently ed Questions

It's laid out by having one therapist recorded video session per week, that corresponds to a weekly homework assignment, and a weekly reading manual. Each recorded video is in a class-like structure with the therapist presenting the material. In total this equals 48 videos, 48 homework assignments, and 48 reading manuals. The framework of doing 1 session per week is just a reference guide so that you can really master that specific material, but you are free to set the pace at which you'd like to go through the material. And, you can go through the material as many times as you'd like. Additionally, you can get peer support through the community forum at any time.
The program includes: 48 therapist-led videos averaging 22 minutes per video, each led by facilitator Susana Potter LMHC; 48 homework assignments with one assignment corresponding to each video; 48 reading manuals that correspond to each video session so you can further reflect on and reinforce the skills after each video; and a community forum for peer support.
It's a one-time fee of $500 that gives you lifetime access to the program. Since there is a weekly video session, weekly homework assignment, and a weekly reading manual totaling 48 of each — this program gives you a full year of DBT training with 144 pieces of expert content. That's less than $10 per week for a complete learning package: video lesson, homework assignment, and reading manual — plus ongoing peer support in our community forum. A tremendous amount of value so that you can go at your own pace, learn and revisit skills, and work to master the different aspects of DBT.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy is helpful for Borderline Personality Disorder, Bipolar, Trauma & PTSD, Anger, Anxiety & Depression, ADHD, Eating Disorders, General Stress, Relationship Conflict, Heightened emotions, Substance Abuse, and really just universal skills.
The curriculum will help you learn strategic new skills to replace behaviors and emotions that are causing friction in your daily life and relationships. It will help you regulate your emotions better, manage distress more effectively, become more mindful, and engage more healthily in relationships of all kinds. The program will work its way up from the principles behind DBT, and progress further to dive deeper into the methodology and practical applications for more advanced skill development that can be utilized in your daily life.
This program gives you a full year of DBT training — 144 pieces of expert content plus lifetime access. That's less than $10 per week for a complete learning package: video lesson, homework assignment, and reading manual — plus ongoing peer support in our community forum. Each video session is designed so you can master 1 session per week and hone that specific skill being addressed. The homework assignments boost accountability, and the weekly manuals provide in-depth reading to maximize skill development. You can consistently refine your DBT skills whenever, however, and how many times you'd like — tremendous value to have in your back pocket so you can go at your own pace, establish accountability, and achieve meaningful results.
You'll be able to simply login with your credentials to access the program whenever you like and how often you wish.
Absolutely! Many members use the self-guided program alongside Grouport's live services like online group therapy, online individual therapy, online couples therapy, online family therapy, or our virtual intensive outpatient program (IOP).
The program is meant to be done sequentially. So you should go in order starting from the first session onward. Second, you shouldn't just skim through a video and then progress to a second video. You should really watch and internalize the full video, then actually do the homework assignment in that specific week, and then actually read the full manual material and practice the tips and exercises expressed in the reading material. Speed isn't the answer, but rather taking the time to really thoroughly digest and practice each specific session and its associated materials will enable you to reap the most benefit. It takes a significant amount of work, and each session is thorough, so take your time to digest it and it's important to build accountability around it to actually practice the homework, exercises, and tips provided. Lastly, repetition is key — you'll find yourself repeating sessions and revisiting earlier modules you went through to continually reinforce the information as that will maximize skill development.
